Drew Estates - Deadwood Crazy Alice
Deadwood Crazy Alice Short Pyramid is the third sister in the Yummy Bitches trio. She showed up in 2014 and is quite the firecracker! She was handmade in Nicaragua with exotic Nicaraguan tobacco fillers, an Indonesian binder, and a dark Brazilian Maduro wrapper brimming with mocha notes and natural sweetness. This cigar is medium to full-bodied and measures 4 x 52 in the shape of a pyramid with impeccable craftsmanship.
Origin: Nicaragua
STRENGTH: MEDIUM TO FULL
COLOR: MADURO
SIZE: 4 x 52
SHAPE: PYRAMID
Wrapper: Brazil
Binder: Indonesia
Filler: Nicaraguan
THE GLOVE:
The fragrance has an earthy note, like damp wood with dried bing cherry, papaya, burlap, tobacco, alfalfa, coca nib, and spice notes of allspice and sassafras root.
The First :
This starts sweet, like marshmallow fluff and is tapered to a meaty flavor with soy sauce and leather notes. A lime note in the back brings this first together like more of a nice carne Asada rubbed in brown sugar.
Second Third:
The sweet notes are still apprentice with it more of a vanilla extract flavor, cocoa powder, cashews, and leather
Final Third:
The last third is more of a spice note, like pink peppercorn with a delicate note of sage and thyme. More earthy Notes of soil, American oak, and black walnut develop. There’s still a hint of sweetness in this, but it is more in the finish and back mouthfeel.
Draw :
The draw is a little constrained but expected with the shape of the cigar
Burn :
The burn is uneven, and the wrapper splits apart (I had this happen on three different cigars). There was no need to relight
Packaging :
The box is a rectangular pyramid with a unique shape that holds ten cigars in two layers of five.
The cigar has a single band. It features a very elaborate design with a cowgirl in a Caterina face with two playing cards on each side, an ace of spades with a sugar skull saying Deadwood Tobacco on the left, and eight skulls on the right that the band is all embossed
Final Thoughts :
This is a good and fun cigar, but I can not recommend it as it does not burn cleanly, draw well, and falls apart too easily.
